🚀 The Future is Bright at KFHS! 🚀
We just wrapped up an incredible Career Fair, and the energy on campus was electric! We kicked things off with an inspiring assembly in the gym featuring Kyle Paterson from Corebridge Financial, who shared invaluable advice with our student body about preparing for the world beyond high school.
This year was our biggest event yet! With 35 different businesses, colleges, and military branches in attendance, we expanded our footprint to include both the Commons and the Library to make room for everyone.
From local industry leaders to university recruiters, our students had the chance to network, ask big questions, and start mapping out their next steps. A huge thank you to all the professionals who took the time to invest in our DAWGS today!
Check out these snapshots of our students in action! 📸👇

🌲 Taking it to the Woods! 🌲
Our KFHS Forestry team was back in action this week, putting their skills to the ultimate test in the field! Forestry is so much more than just identifying trees—our students competed in a gauntlet of technical events, including:
✅ Timber Cruising & Map Interpretation
✅ Compass and Pacing
✅ Chainsaw Parts & Safety
✅ Tree ID & Tree Disorders
✅ Tool ID & General Forestry Knowledge
The team showed incredible Discipline and Effort, and the improvement we’ve seen in their technical accuracy is outstanding. This was a vital "tune-up" as the DAWGS prepare to head to the State Forestry Competition after Spring Break!
We are so proud of how these students are representing our school and our local industry. Keep up the hard work, team! 🐾🪓

🔥 Biology in Action: The Science of the Burn! 🧪
Our Biology students were busy this week getting their heart rates up—all in the name of science! They hit the lab to see exactly how Cellular Respiration powers our bodies.
The challenge? Measure carbon dioxide levels by exhaling through a straw into an indicator solution. They tested three different stages:
1️⃣ At Rest (The baseline)
2️⃣ After 30 seconds of exercise 🏃♂️
3️⃣ After 2 minutes of intense work! 🏋️♀️
The results were visible! As the students worked harder, their cells needed more energy, producing more CO2 as a byproduct. The more they exercised, the faster the indicator solution changed color, proving that our "cellular engines" were revving into high gear.
It’s one thing to read about it in a textbook, but it’s another thing to see the chemistry of your own breath change in real-time! 🐾💪

🌲 Branching Out: The Big Tree Contest Begins! 🌲
Our KFHS FFA students traded the classroom for the forest this week to kick off the highly anticipated Big Tree Contest! It was a day of hands-on learning and future planning for our green-thumbed Bulldogs.
Here’s how they dug in:
📚 Knowledge: They learned the art of creating educational posters to share the importance of forestry.
🌳 Care: Students mastered the essentials of tree health and long-term maintenance.
🌱 Selection: Each student hand-picked their very own tree to bring back to campus!
The next step? These trees are coming home to KFHS to be planted and nurtured by our students. But the journey doesn't end there—the ultimate goal is the Fair in August, where their hard work and healthy trees will be officially entered for judging! 🎡
We can’t wait to watch these trees (and our students' skills) grow throughout the spring.

Precision meets purpose! 🔥⚙️
Check out this incredible project coming out of the KFHS metal shop class! Using our brand-new CNC plasma cutter, Greg designed and fabricated a custom piece specifically for Boise Cascade.
Learning to operate a plasma cutter is no small feat—it requires technical precision, software knowledge, and a steady hand. Greg didn't just master the machine for his own project; he stepped up as a leader and taught his classmates how to use it, too!
We love seeing our students gain real-world skills that connect directly with our local industry partners. Huge shout-out to Greg for his hard work, craftsmanship, and willingness to help others level up their skills. 🐾💪

Our FCCLA team is officially headed to State and have been working non stop to get ready! They will be competing in Job Interview and Redesigned and Repurposed. A huge shout out to our two State Officers from KFHS. Not only are they representing us, but they are responsible for organizing and running the event. Check out one of our officers adding the final professional touches to the event materials. That's leadership in action!

Checkmate! Take a look at this incredible project fresh out of the KFHS Shop. One of our talented students just finished this stunning custom chessboard and the craftsmanship is next level. He opted for wood and a dark blue exposure for the squares and poured both sets in different shades of blue out of epoxy as well. We love seeing our students pushing themselves and their creative designs.

Oh, the places they went! 📚✨
Our KFHS Leadership class had a blast celebrating Dr. Seuss Day at the elementary school today! From The Cat in the Hat to Green Eggs and Ham, our leaders spent the day diving into the classics with some very enthusiastic junior readers.
It wasn’t just about the stories, though—each grade level got hands-on with a special Seuss-themed craft. Whether they were making whiskers or striped hats, the creativity (and the giggles) were off the charts! 🎨
We are so proud of our high schoolers for mentoring the next generation and sharing the magic of reading.

Our seniors are officially one step closer to their next big adventure. Today KFHS hosted a scholarship convention where the class of 2026 had the opportunity to connect with local organizations dedicated to supporting their futures. A huge thank you o everyone who made it and makes these opportunities available for our kids!

The Bulldogs wrapped up an incredible run at the Mat Classic, finishing 11th as a team! Our wrestlers fought hard through every bracket, bringing home four individual medals. A 4th, a 6th and two 8th place finishes. The hardware didn't stop there. We are incredibly proud of our very own AJ Howard who was named the Washington State B coach of the year! This is an honor and testament to the culture of grit and excellence he has built here at KFHS. Congratulations to the entire team and coaching staff on a phenomenal season!

The Bulldogs are making some serious noise at the Mat Classic! 🤼♂️🔥

Love is in the air—and in the Horticulture lab! 🌹✨
Our students channeled their inner florists last week for our Floral Design unit. They didn’t just stop at traditional greenery; they got creative by crafting handmade candy roses and building their own unique arrangements from the ground up! 🍭🌿
From learning the "sweet" science of assembly to mastering the balance and aesthetics of a professional bouquet, these Bulldogs are proving they have some serious talent.
Check out some of these incredible (and edible!) creations. We might have some future wedding planners and florists in our midst!
