💙 5th Grade Character Strong – Empathy in Action 💙
This month, our 5th grade students are focusing on Empathy through their Character Strong lessons. Students began by reflecting on how they respond to the feelings of others and how their words and actions can make an impact.
Throughout the month, lessons will encourage students to observe the emotions of those around them, consider different perspectives, and think about how empathy helps build a positive and caring school culture. 🌱🤝

The last hour of the 2025 school day was filled with fun as students enjoyed teacher-led activities throughout the building! Choices included 🏀 basketball, 🎮 Mario Kart, 🎯 Bingo, ✍️ Christmas cards & drawing, 🎨 holiday crafts, 🃏 card games, 📱 iPad math games (Booklet), 🎬 Home Alone, ❄️ 3-D snowflakes, and ⏱️ Minute to Win It games.
It was the perfect way for students and staff to spend time together, laugh, and build connections while creating special holiday memories. ❄️✨💙💛🐾

On the last day of school in 2025, KFMS students and staff came together for a fun-filled assembly full of energy and laughter! The KFHS Cheerleaders, under the direction of Coach Jamie Johnson, taught our students some spirited cheers that had everyone clapping and smiling. 💙💛
The fun continued with relay races for staff, giving students the chance to cheer us on—and enjoy a few adult mistakes and losses along the way! 😂🏃♂️ It was the perfect way to celebrate together, build community, and head into break with smiles all around. 🐾✨

Our 7th graders have been diving deep into Washington State History and learning all about the native tribes of Washington! 🎉 From researching current tribal practices to exploring traditional foods, languages, and the treaties that shaped where tribes live today, these students have been hard at work becoming informed, thoughtful historians. 🧐✨
They wrapped it all up with presentations that showcased their learning and curiosity — way to go, Bulldogs! 💙💛🐾

KFMS 5th graders kicked off the year in our “Welcome to KFMS” rotation, spending the first six weeks learning school routines, expectations, and what it means to be a Bulldog.
From there, students moved into Walk to Math, where they get extra time each day to work on math skills at their individual level.
Coming this January, our 5th graders will transition into Walk to Reading to build strong literacy skills and continue their academic growth.

What started as a quick free-throw contest at our last ASB assembly turned into a hilarious, nail-biter of a competition. The teachers—armed with granny shots, questionable form, and a lot of luck—managed to pull off the win in the final seconds!

Our scientists are diving into their Thermal Energy unit! Students began their inquiry by comparing insulated and non-insulated cups to investigate heat transfer and the power of insulation.
Throughout the unit, they’ll use what they learn to explore how thermal energy moves in the world around us—and why it matters. Love seeing our Bulldogs thinking like real scientists! 🧪🔥🐾

All fall long, Tyson and Mrs. Vining went back and forth over who was better: the Yankees or the Mariners. The final showdown came down to the MVP race—Aaron Judge vs. Cal Raleigh—and Tyson came out on top!
As part of the deal, Mrs. Vining had to wear his Yankees jersey for the entire school day, and Tyson now gets bragging rights until Opening Day 2026.
Somewhere, Cal Raleigh is still the real MVP… but today, Tyson definitely was. #GoMariners #CalRealMVP
