Teachers are always learning! Bonnie from iReady visited Kettle Falls to take teachers through their student's initial assessments and what they can do to help students grow. Students at KFMS take these tests three times a year to test for growth. They set goals and share these goals with parents at their Student Led Conference. We all learn at KFMS!

The annual CanAm meet at Old Kettle was held the last full weekend in September. KFMS boys and girls participated. The weather was perfect for both runners and spectators. Avery placed fourth in the girls race and Mason placed third. All runners competed hard! Way to go Bulldogs!

Middle School and High School Cross Country teams getting ready to compete at the Reardan meet.

KFMS Volleyball held their first game this week versus Reardan. Coaches Melissa Purvis and Molly Larson make team spirit a priority. The gym is LOUD with Bulldog cheers. Go Bulldogs!

5th grade students at KFMS got to know each other better in Advisories through a Character Strong lesson called, "Speed Interviews." Students asked each other three different questions and switched partners four different times. One of the questions was, "What are you most grateful for right now?" These activities encourage students to build relationships with ALL students not just their friends.

All students at KFMS have Health Education at least 2 times a week. Mr. Kroiss fills the entire period with Health Lessons, interval training and games!

KFMS has new windows! What happens when the windows are on back order and come after school starts? Then Austin and Chris have to work around student and teacher schedules. We also got new blinds. Thank you to GSI Complete Glass and McInelly's Magic Carpets for your great work!

Day one at KFMS is full of relationship building and expectations. Staff spent the day taking students on tours of every area of the school. The remaining time was spent completing Character Strong activities to get to know each other better.

KFMS students and staff members enjoyed a Back to School BBQ the night before the first day of school. They received their schedules, visited their new classrooms and teachers, and moved into
their lockers. We hope that all have amazing school year!

KFSD employees spent two days in late August learning about the newly adopted Character Strong curriculum. This program invites all staff members to take action to be an active part of improving culture at KFSD. Through daily activities and conversations, staff and students improve engagement, well-being, and belonging. Over 120 staff members left the training with challenges and dares to begin on the first day of school. This time spent together enabled the staff to connect and plan on how to fully implement this curriculum and improve the KFSD culture.

Every year KFMS Advisory classes participate in an Advisory Olympics. Each grade grade level advisory class compete against each other to go for the Gold! The advisors score each group on different character criteria. The events were Hungry Hungry Hippo, an obstacle course, Kahoots and cup stacking. There was a reward ceremony where students were awarded with different size candy bars. Advisors reported that there were many close matches but the overall sportsmanship determined the winners.

The 8th grade class visited KFHS for a quick orientation. They heard from different upper class men about clubs, sport, and life at the high school. They all received their schedule for the fall and got to eat lunch with the high schoolers. The class of 2027 is ready for fall!

KFMS students held their annual ASB elections for the 2023-24 school year. Potential candidates participated by giving speeches and asking students to support them with their votes. Nevin Eslick will serve as President, Josh Bear as Vice President, Devan Simmons as Treasurer, and Charles Kelly as Secretary. Each grade level Advisory will elect a Representative in the fall. Thank you to all of the students who participated in the election process.

The 8th grade students celebrated the end of the school year and their promotion to high school with a trip to Silverwood. Thank you to Mr. Flugel, Mr. Kroiss, Mrs. Buckmiller, Mrs. Purvis, Mrs. St. Clair, and Mrs. Crumpler for chaperoning and making sure that the students had a great time. I wonder if any of the adults rode Aftershock?

Every year KFMS 8th grade students complete a passage presentation where they present themselves and their work to a group of community panelists. The Seventh Day Adventist Church across the street allows us to use their Sunday School rooms for this interview. The presentation includes a PowerPoint presentation, an interview, and feedback for students on future presentations or interviews. We are very grateful for our community! Without the church and the community panelists we would not be able to offer our 8th graders this opportunity. Thank you!

Every year the Meyers Falls Cemetery Association makes sure that every grave has flowers on it for Memorial Day. The last two years our 6th grade students have been asked to help box up the flowers. Part of our KFMS goal is "...increasing the value service plays in our lives, schools, and community." We are honored to serve our community!

KFHS brought their robot, Joules, to the middle school for a visit. Students got to listen to how the team worked together to build and program the robot, see how the robot worked, and ask questions. 8th grade students were encouraged to join the robotics team next year. They also acknowledged the KFMS team and the success that they've had at their different contests.
