🍦☀️ Mrs. Hooper's Final Surprise! ☀️🍦

Just when our students thought the school year couldn't get any better, Mrs. Hooper had one final surprise up her sleeve! Thanks to her coordination with Jimbo, the ice cream truck made a special visit to KFMS, giving every student a sweet treat to celebrate the end of another successful school year.

This special event was made possible through the support of our families and community members who participate in our annual Cookie Dough Fundraiser each spring. Your generosity helps us create memorable experiences and celebrate our students throughout the year. Thank you for your continued support!

As students enjoyed their ice cream, staff gathered outside to wave goodbye and wish everyone a wonderful summer as the buses pulled away for the final time this school year. It was a perfect way to end another great year at KFMS.

Have a safe, fun, and relaxing summer, Bulldogs! We can't wait to see you again in the fall.

✂️📚 KFMS is Slashing School Supply Lists! 📚✂️

We are excited to announce that KFMS has significantly simplified our school supply lists for next year! We have narrowed the lists down to the basics in an effort to reduce costs and make back-to-school shopping easier for families.

Most supplies will now be classroom distributed, meaning teachers will collect and organize supplies and provide them to students as needed throughout the year. We are also eliminating the requirement for large student binders. Instead, KFMS will provide smaller binders that will remain in classrooms and help students stay organized.

Our 2026–2027 school supply list will be posted on the school website and mailed home to families in mid-August. We hope this change helps make the transition back to school a little easier for everyone.

Have a wonderful summer, Bulldogs! We look forward to seeing you at our Back-to-School BBQ on August 27 and welcoming students back for another great year at KFMS!

🎨✨ Dreaming About the Future at KFMS! ✨🎨

KFMS students recently participated in our "My Dream Job" Art Contest, where they were challenged to create a poster highlighting a career they would like to pursue in the future. Students used their creativity, research, and artistic skills to bring their future aspirations to life.

Mrs. Walker developed a rubric to guide students through the project and help them create a high-quality final product. Once completed, the posters were displayed throughout the hallway, turning our school into a showcase of future teachers, veterinarians, engineers, mechanics, nurses, artists, and many other exciting careers.

Staff members had the difficult task of voting for their favorite projects, and the top three students were recognized with awards. Congratulations to our winners and to all of the students who participated! We are proud of the effort, creativity, and future-focused thinking displayed in each project.

🐾 Welcome Future Bulldogs! 🐾

During the last week of school, our 4th grade students and their teachers visited Kettle Falls Middle School for Move-Up Day. Students spent a couple of hours getting to know their future school, staff, and some of the many opportunities that await them as 5th graders.

Mrs. Vining, Mrs. Hooper, and members of the KFMS ASB led students through a presentation that highlighted the structures, activities, traditions, and fun that make KFMS a great place to learn and grow. Students toured the building, enjoyed lunch in the cafeteria, and even had the opportunity to try out their new playground. We were also excited to have several parents join us to learn more about the middle school and meet staff members.

We are looking forward to welcoming this outstanding group of students to KFMS next fall! As a reminder, all KFMS students and families are invited to attend our Back-to-School BBQ on Thursday, August 27, from 4:00–5:30 PM. We hope to see everyone there as we kick off another great school year together!

🎉📚 Thank You for Joining Us at the KFMS Open House! 📚🎉

Kettle Falls Middle School recently welcomed families to our Open House for an evening of learning, fun, and community. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy 5th grade Reader's Theatre performances, view Humanities projects and student work, and participate in math games that were originally planned for our Pi Night event that was canceled in March due to the power outage.

Families also enjoyed pizza while exploring the building and celebrating the hard work of our students. As part of the evening, families were invited to complete a survey to provide feedback on our Title I programs and help guide future family engagement opportunities.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening a success. Events like these strengthen the partnership between school and home and provide valuable opportunities to celebrate student learning together.

🎶🎺 KFMS 8th Grade Concert Band Takes the Stage! 🎺🎶

Sixteen KFMS 8th grade band students had the honor of performing in the High School Spring Music Concert under the direction of Mr. Scharbrough. Dressed in their concert attire, the students took the stage at the Woodland Theatre and performed five pieces for the audience, showcasing the musical skills they have developed through dedication and hard work.

Performing in a professional theater setting gave students the experience of a true concert performance and an opportunity to share their talents with the community. We are incredibly proud of the extra practice, commitment, and effort these students demonstrated to earn this opportunity.

A special thank you to Mr. Scharbrough for his leadership and to the Woodland Theatre for providing such an amazing venue. Congratulations to our talented musicians for representing KFMS with pride and excellence!

🌺 Serving Our Community at Meyers Falls Cemetery 🌺

Each year, the Meyers Falls Cemetery Committee ensures that every headstone in the cemetery is honored with flowers. This meaningful tradition is made possible through a partnership with Kettle Falls School District students.

High school students help place the flowers before Memorial Day, and our KFMS 6th grade students assist by removing them afterward. While it may seem like a simple task, it is an important act of service that helps care for a special place in our community and honors those who came before us.

At KFMS, we believe that service is an important part of learning and growing. Our school goal states: "At KFMS we demonstrate kindness, responsibility, and teamwork, increasing our sense of belonging, growth mindset, and the value service plays in our lives, schools, and community." Opportunities like this help students put those values into action while making a positive difference in Kettle Falls.

The Meyers Falls Cemetery Committee would also like community members to know that any personal items that were left at gravesites have been carefully collected and are available for pickup in front of the shed at the cemetery.

Thank you to the Meyers Falls Cemetery Committee for allowing our students to be part of this important tradition and to our students for representing KFMS through service.

🏊☀️ PE at the Pool! ☀️🏊

The last two days, KFMS PE classes traded the gym for the Kettle Falls City Pool! Students enjoyed walking to the pool, cooling off, and having fun with their classmates while staying active during PE.

A huge thank you to the City of Kettle Falls and the lifeguards who welcomed our students and helped make this experience safe, fun, and memorable. We appreciate the partnership and the opportunity to provide our students with a great end-of-year activity!

🎓 8th Grade Passages Have Begun at KFMS! 🎓

All 8th grade students at KFMS have officially begun preparing for their Passage Presentations before transitioning to KFHS this fall. Passages are an important tradition and milestone for our students as they reflect on their middle school journey and prepare for high school.

During the presentation, students meet with a community panel and demonstrate their growth in areas such as Mastery of Knowledge, High Quality Work, Character, and their aspirations for high school and beyond.
The presentation ends much like a job interview, with panelists asking students thoughtful questions about themselves, their goals, and their experiences.

Throughout the last quarter, students spend advisory time preparing, practicing, editing slideshows, refining presentations, and improving their overall performance. Students are evaluated using a detailed rubric that includes presentation skills, preparation, and professional dress.

We are excited to watch our students grow through this process and showcase all they have accomplished at KFMS. Stay tuned for completion photos next month! 🐾

Our 7th grade students took part in Build a Better World Day by helping care for both our community and environment! 💙🌎

After spending time picking up trash at a local beach area, students returned to school to learn more about plastic pollution and its impact on our environment. They then created informational and inspirational bookmarks about pollution awareness that will be shared in the library for other students to enjoy and learn from.

We are proud of our 7th graders for combining service, learning, and creativity to help make a positive difference!

⛰️💙 Freshening Up the “KF” 💙⛰️

Every year, some of our KFMS 8th grade students take on the big task of hiking up to the “KF” on the hill to freshen it up as part of Build a Better World Day. This is no easy project — it’s a long, hot day full of hiking, weeding, and painting — but our students always rise to the challenge with teamwork and pride.

The “KF” is something our entire community sees and appreciates, and we are thankful for the hard work and dedication of our 8th grade students along with Mr. Flugel, Mr. Hansen, and Mr. Graves for leading the project.

If you get a chance, check it out and enjoy the fresh new look! We are proud of our Bulldogs for continuing this amazing tradition of service and community pride. 💛

🌎💙 Even the Littles Are Building a Better World 💙🌎

Our KFMS TTK students took part in Build a Better World Day by helping clean up their playground area at the middle school. Their special playground borders the baseball and softball fields, and somehow little pieces of trash can occasionally find their way into the area.

The students take great pride in their playground and were very serious about helping care for their space by picking up trash left behind by others. It was wonderful seeing our youngest learners show responsibility, teamwork, and pride in keeping their school beautiful.

These little Bulldogs are already learning that even small acts of service can make a big difference! 💛

💙💛 6th Grade Bulldogs Building a Better World 💛💙

Our KFMS 6th grade students spent Build a Better World Day spreading positivity throughout Kettle Falls! Students worked together to create posters and positive sayings that will be displayed around town to encourage and inspire others.

The posters will line Highway 395 to welcome visitors to our area, while student-designed labels will be placed on coffee cups and to-go containers at local businesses throughout the community. What an incredible way to share kindness, pride, and positivity with everyone who visits or lives in Kettle Falls!

Today truly showed the power of teamwork, creativity, and service. This really is one of the best days of the school year!

🌎💙 Build a Better World Day at KFMS 💙🌎

Our KFMS 7th grade students headed to Lake Roosevelt today as part of KFSD’s Build a Better World Day service projects. Many of these students spend their summers swimming, relaxing, and making memories at this beach. Today, they gave back to a place they love by helping clean the beaches and pick up garbage to make it a place our entire community can continue to enjoy.

It was wonderful to see students working together, taking pride in their community, and understanding the value of service and stewardship. Their hard work and teamwork truly made a difference today!

We are proud of our Bulldogs for demonstrating kindness, responsibility, and teamwork while helping care for our beautiful community spaces. 💛
