Big News & Bright Starts at the Early Learning Center!
The school year is off to an incredible start! Thanks to our commitment to high-quality early education, our center was awarded nearly $9,000 in classroom and playground upgrades through the Imagine Institute pilot program over the last year.
Highlights of our new, state-of-the-art learning environments include:
The Book Nook Tree & Quiet Corner Tube: Spaces designed for early literacy and self-regulation.
Expanded Outdoor Play: Upgraded gear for four-square, sandbox discovery, and dramatic play that builds active teamwork.
Because of this innovation, our center was chosen as one of only five state programs to be featured in a statewide Imagine Institute video!
Investing in Every Child & Family
Through a new grant, we also added specialized AAC communication tools and PECS so every student has a voice. Plus, our new Social-Emotional Curriculum—paired with a parent app for learning at home—is helping students build the focus and behavior skills they need for kindergarten readiness.

Middle School Football Information
We still have a few slots open for TTK!
Due to firefighters using the high school and the Red Cross operating a shelter at the middle school, we have had to adjust our plans for the Fall Sports Parent Meeting.
The Fall Sports Parent Meeting will now be held in the Kettle Falls Elementary School cafeteria on Wednesday, August 12, at 6:00 PM.

☀️ Summer Fun is in Full Swing at the ELC! ☀️
We are having the absolute best summer making memories, exploring new ideas, and enjoying the beautiful weather! Here’s a little peek into what our amazing kiddos have been up to lately:
🎨 Chalk Masterpieces & Outdoor Play: Our days are filled with fresh air, laughter, and a whole lot of color. The kids have been turning our sidewalks into their own personal art galleries with some amazing sidewalk chalk creations!
🏃♂️ Room 2 is On the Move: Our Room 2 friends have been diving into a unit all about exercise and keeping our bodies healthy. To put their learning into action, they tackled a custom-built outdoor obstacle course. There was jumping, balancing, and a whole lot of cheering each other on! After the exercise they spend time resting on the grass looking for shapes in the clouds.
🐚 Deep Sea Discoveries: Our school-age crew is exploring the wonders of the ocean this summer! They’ve been learning all about fascinating sea life and even got to tap into their creative sides by painting beautiful, unique seashells.
📚 A Very Special Library Trip: All of our ELC kids got to visit the library for a super exciting, special storytime to celebrate our country's big 250th birthday! 🇺🇸✨
🌳 Tree Ring Science: On another trip to the library, our school-age kiddos also got to take a deep dive into learning about trees. They acted like real scientists, studying tree rings to discover how old a tree is and what its life was like through history.
We are so proud of how hard our campers are playing, learning, and growing together.

Over in Ms. Amanda’s class, love was in the air during our Valentine’s Day celebration. Family members joined us for an afternoon of heartfelt connection, where students exchanged valentines and got creative with cookie-decorating. These moments allow parents to see their children’s social worlds up close, turning a simple school party into a cherished family memory.
Sweet Starts & St. Paddy’s Fun
In Ms. Cassy’s class, we recently hosted "Pastries with Parents" during morning drop-off. There is no better way to start the day than with a doughnut and a smile! After enjoying some treats, parents stayed to dive into festive St. Patrick’s Day activities with their children. Seeing parents and students collaborate on crafts before we started our daily routines reminded us that a little extra time together can set the tone for a week of success.

At KFELC, Tuesdays aren’t just another day of the week—they are for discovery, mess-making, and wonder! Ms. Amanda’s students have been diving head-first into the world of science with hands-on experiments that bring the "how" and "why" of our world to life. From weather patterns to chemical reactions, our little scientists are busy exploring. A few featured experiments include:
Hurricanes in a Jar: We spun up our own miniature storms to see the power of a vortex!
Shaving Cream Rain Clouds: Using water, shaving cream, and food coloring, we visualized exactly how clouds get heavy and release rain. 🌧️
The Big Fizz: We combined ice, vinegar, baking soda, and a splash of color to watch the magic of chemical reactions in real-time. 💥
There’s nothing quite like the look of "aha!" on a student's face when the science finally clicks. It’s no wonder this is the highlight of our week!
