More Than Just a Classroom: Strengthening Our Bonds Through Family Engagement
At KFELC, we believe that education is a team effort. While the learning that happens each day is vital, the magic truly happens when we open our doors to the families who make our community whole. Recently, we’ve seen firsthand how Family Engagement creates a supportive, joyful environment for our students to thrive.

Celebrating Friendship and Creativity
Over in Ms. Amanda’s class, love was in the air during our Valentine’s Day celebration. Family members joined us for an afternoon of heartfelt connection, where students exchanged valentines and got creative with cookie-decorating. These moments allow parents to see their children’s social worlds up close, turning a simple school party into a cherished family memory.

Sweet Starts & St. Paddy’s Fun
In Ms. Cassy’s class, we recently hosted "Pastries with Parents" during morning drop-off. There is no better way to start the day than with a doughnut and a smile! After enjoying some treats, parents stayed to dive into festive St. Patrick’s Day activities with their children. Seeing parents and students collaborate on crafts before we started our daily routines reminded us that a little extra time together can set the tone for a week of success.

Why It Matters
When families are involved, students feel a greater sense of belonging and pride in their school. These events aren’t just about doughnuts or cookies; they are about:

Building Trust: Creating open lines of communication between teachers and parents.

Modeling Connection: Showing our students that their education is valued by the most important people in their lives.

Creating Memories: Making school a place of joy and community.

We want to extend a huge thank you to every parent and guardian who took the time to join us. Your presence makes our school a brighter place!

🧪 Science Tuesdays in Ms. Amanda’s Class! 🌪️
At KFELC, Tuesdays aren’t just another day of the week—they are for discovery, mess-making, and wonder! Ms. Amanda’s students have been diving head-first into the world of science with hands-on experiments that bring the "how" and "why" of our world to life. From weather patterns to chemical reactions, our little scientists are busy exploring. A few featured experiments include:

Hurricanes in a Jar: We spun up our own miniature storms to see the power of a vortex!

Shaving Cream Rain Clouds: Using water, shaving cream, and food coloring, we visualized exactly how clouds get heavy and release rain. 🌧️

The Big Fizz: We combined ice, vinegar, baking soda, and a splash of color to watch the magic of chemical reactions in real-time. 💥

There’s nothing quite like the look of "aha!" on a student's face when the science finally clicks. It’s no wonder this is the highlight of our week!

Just another "boring" day at KFELC... JUST KIDDING! 🥳✨

From engineering cubbies in our construction gear 👷‍♂️ to sailing the high seas in our fort ship 🏴‍☠️, we’ve been busy! Today’s highlights: 🍅 Healthy snack champions! ✈️ Taking flight on the teeter-totter. 🎤 A very loud (and very fun) Tooty Ta dance-off. 💄 Giving teacher a high-fashion makeover.

We don't just "watch" kids; we go on adventures with them. Which photo is your favorite? Let us know in the comments! 👇

✨ The magic of Christmas arrived at the ELC! ✨

We had an amazing family engagement event with a very special guest: Santa Claus!

Santa read stories to each class, took time to hear every child's Christmas wish, and brightened their day with a new toy. We also enjoyed lots of festive activities together!

We are so grateful for the wonderful turnout—parents, siblings, and grandparents, thank you for making it a success! A special shout-out to Ms Amanda for coordinating with Santa and making the entire event a reality, and Superintendent Michael Olsen and HR Manager Julie Peterson for joining the holiday fun!

📚 Book Blast Success! Kettle Falls Early Learning Center & TTK Celebrate Literacy! 🚀

We are overjoyed to announce the incredible success of our recent Book Blast fundraiser, a partnership between the Kettle Falls Early Learning Center and TTK!

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our community, we raised over $5,000 for our students! This amazing support has had a massive, direct impact on early literacy. Every single student, including those who enrolled late, received a collection of brand new, age-appropriate books to build their home library.

Furthermore, our dedicated teachers made the generous decision to forgo their shopping spree rewards to ensure more funds went directly toward giving books to the children to take home. We understand the vital importance of having books at home for early literacy development. Thank you to every participant and donor for sharing the gift of reading with our young learners!

KFSD Staff Deliver Major Support to Local Food Bank! ❤️

At KFSD, we understand the vital role our local food bank plays in supporting our community, especially during tough times. That's why we challenged our building staff in a friendly competition.

To ensure our efforts met the greatest need, we reached out to the food bank beforehand to identify the most crucial items they were running low on. Our staff responded with incredible generosity!

Thanks to the incredible commitment of the KFSD team, we collected:
1,417 pounds of much-needed non-perishable food.
A phenomenal $1,374 in cash donations.

This collective effort highlights the passion and commitment of the KFSD team. Every pound of food and every dollar donated will go directly toward helping our neighbors in need.

Bus Route Updates

We want to let our families know that some bus routes have been adjusted and went into effect October 27, 2025. These changes were made after careful review to ensure the least possible impact on parents, students, and drivers while maintaining safe and efficient transportation for everyone.

Our transportation team analyzed ridership patterns, travel times, and neighborhood growth to make adjustments that best accommodate families. While routes may look slightly different, our goal is to minimize travel time, improve consistency, and maintain reliable service for all students.

We understand that changes to transportation can affect family routines, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make these improvements.

Updated route information has been distributed and calls were made. If you have any questions or need assistance finding your child’s new bus stop or schedule, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our transportation department.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support as we strive to make school transportation as smooth and efficient as possible.
