KFMS is excited to roll out our new Social Studies curriculum, which aligns with Washington State’s suggested learning progressions and helps students build a strong understanding of history, geography, and civics as they move through middle school. Each grade level explores age-appropriate topics that build upon one another: currently our 5th graders are diving into the lives of Early Native Americans before European exploration, 6th grade is studying the Americas with a strong focus on geography, 7th grade is learning about Native American tribes with special emphasis on those of Washington State, and 8th graders are currently exploring the foundations of our government through the U.S. Constitution.
The new curriculum and supporting materials have brought a fresh spark to our classrooms, engaging students with meaningful content, rich discussions, and hands-on learning opportunities.
