Building Stronger Character at KFMS
Kettle Falls Middle School is fully implementing Character Strong for all students this year!
The first tier of Character Strong happens during Advisory, where students and teachers engage in lessons, videos, and discussions centered around character traits like kindness, respect, courage, and perseverance.
The second tier offers small-group support for students who need extra help developing skills in self-management, coping, and relationship building. These students also connect daily with a mentor to practice and reflect on the new skills they’re learning.
The third tier provides 1:1 personalized support for students who may be experiencing greater challenges such as anxiety, depression, or trauma.
KFMS staff are committed to building a culture where students feel supported, respected, and resilient. This work is especially important as our 2025 CEE survey showed that only 24% of students felt peers are respectful to one another, and students’ “stamina” (setbacks don’t discourage me) dropped by 16% from 2024 to 2025.
By fully implementing Character Strong, we aim to help every student grow in character and confidence—and to see those numbers rise as our school community grows stronger together.
