5th Grade Agreements

At KFMS, teachers and students co-create Classroom Agreements—our shared norms—at the beginning of the school year. These agreements grow out of our KFMS Goal:

At KFMS we demonstrate kindness, responsibility, and teamwork, increasing our sense of belonging, growth mindset, and the value service plays in our lives, schools, and community.

Using this goal as a starting point, each class develops statements under Kindness, Responsibility, and Teamwork that describe how they want their classroom to look, sound, and feel. This process helps students take ownership of their learning environment and ensures that everyone knows what respectful and engaged participation looks like.

It’s important to note that agreements are different from rules or expectations. Rules and expectations are created by the school and teacher to provide structure. Classroom agreements are built with students to guide how they live out those expectations in a way that supports one another.

This shared process of cooperation and communication builds a strong classroom and school culture where all students feel safe, included, and ready to engage with the content.
