Mr. Rielly plays chess with a student

Students this year at KFMS have had the opportunity to choose up to four different Opps Elective classes. The class list is created each quarter by teachers with student interests in mind. Physical activities were always a hit for students.  Some of the classes were weight lifting, yoga, volleyball, basketball, open gym, and walking the track.  Art, coloring, cursive, fly tying, knitting, and drama were offered for our more creative students; while board and card games were very popular for our more competitive students. Some students spent time in mindful activities that stressed how important it is to manage your emotions and wellbeing.  Math is Cool, Podcasting, and  Robotics were offered for our more STEM oriented students. This quarter the 8th grade students were assigned to a High School and Beyond Opps Elective class that gets the students ready for their end of the year Passage presentation and transition to the high school. Opps Electives  is only a 30-minute class on three days a week but it gives students and teachers some time together to explore other interests and activities.
