kfms robotics club at competition

On December 10th the Kettle Falls Middle School Robotics team journeyed to Freeman. In Freeman, 20 teams got through the snow while several hundred across the state made it to their own. The competition consisted of a 30 min presentation where the team showed their innovation project (a trash rake system for the Myers Falls Dam) and the robot they built for the competition this year. They had a slide show, a model of the dam, the robot, and its many attachments.. Each year is a brand-new game, with new rules, new points, and new strategies to be developed. The robot is almost completely autonomous during the game. The team not only built the robot from scratch but programed it as well. This year we came in 4th with a score of 240 points, 5 points separated the top 4 teams, it was a very close game. At the end of the day, awards are given to the top performing teams in the robot game as well as the presentation. The Kettle Falls Robopups brought home the โ€œRobot Designโ€ award and did well enough to move on to the next level of competition, the Eastern Washington State Finals. The next round will be held February 4th as St. Georges school in Spokane where the top teams from all the other competitions across Eastern Washington will gather.
