Recess isn't just for burning off energy – it's a fantastic real-world classroom where our students get to practice the amazing skills they learn through CharacterStrong!
For those new to it, CharacterStrong is a powerful social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum that helps our students develop essential character traits like empathy, perseverance, and integrity. It's all about building a positive school culture and empowering students to be their best selves, both in and out of the classroom.
This month, our focus trait is RESPECT, and we're seeing it in action everywhere, even during a lively game of four square! Just look at these smiles and focused faces. In a game like four square, respect is key:
- Respecting the rules of the game.
- Respecting each other's turns and calls.
- Respecting boundaries and personal space.
- And, of course, respecting differences when disagreements pop up (which they always do in active play!).
It's truly wonderful to watch our young learners apply these valuable lessons to their play. They're not just playing four square; they're building character, one bounce and one respectful interaction at a time!
