My name is Courtney Brunette and I am the Principal of Columbia Virtual Academy and I also serve as the McKinney-Vento Coordinator for Kettle Falls School District. In this role, I help identify and support students and families who may be experiencing housing instability or homelessness.
McKinney-Vento supports students who may be staying temporarily with friends or relatives, living in motels, shelters, vehicles, campgrounds, or other temporary housing situations. My role is to help remove barriers so students can stay enrolled, attend school, access transportation when appropriate, and receive the services and support they need.
If you become aware of a student or family whose housing situation may be uncertain or temporary, please reach out to me. A quick referral can make a significant difference in helping a student remain connected to school and supported during a difficult time.
