Symmetry and Tessellations

 

Second graders have been working on symmetry and tessellations.  They made a quilt pattern, then repeated it so they had 4.  Students counted the lines of symmetry. Then, they rotated the patterns one, two, or three turns to see if the pattern changed. Last, students found their favorite patterns, glued them down, and shared the quilt patterns with classmates.
