5th grade students practiced their moon phases using Oreos. Students had to first write the phase names on their paper plate, before creating the Oreo visuals of the moon. In this lab, students work with their hands to manipulate the cream to create that sliver of the moon. This became a challenge for many students! However, as soon as their moon phases were created and approved, students got to eat their Oreos which made it worth the hard work. Yum!
