Building Bridges

Physics students put their knowledge to the test and competed to build the strongest bridges out of small balsam sticks and Elmer's glue.  The bridges had to fall within certain parameters for number of sticks, height and width, with the goal to see which bridge could withstand the most weight.  Most of the bridges were able to handle 10-30 pounds.  Gary Esvelt crushed the competition when his bridge finally buckled under 60 pounds.
