Once a week, about 70 KFES students stay after school for Crazy 8s math club.  Now that’s CRAZY!  Here, the students practice skills through real-life, hands on activities.  One example is when the 4^thgrade club went through “Firefighter Training.”  The students had to measure the area and perimeter of a space to calculate how much water they would need to put out a blaze.  They also participated in a pack test by timing themselves on the sensory path.  The students timed themselves running the course without weight, then with weight. Then they compared their times. Crazy 8s lasts 8 weeks, and provides our kids an opportunity to get creative with math.
