    The first week of school was a success with children, they made a gingerbread man who went off on an adventure.  The students learned more about the school and the adults that work there as they searched for the runaway gingerbread man.  We also built a bridge to help the gingerbread man across the river.

    What a wonderful day.  We went on our first adventure and had a great time.  We rode the school bus, went on a scavenger hunt and made "homes" for squirrels.  It was an amazing day.  building a squirrel "home" Mrs. Kenney's Kindergartn

  • Gingerbread Man

    The first 2 days of school we searched for the missing Gingerbread man and built him a bridge so that he could get to safety.  It was an exciting way to start the year

    Kindergarten News: March 14, 2016

    This week we will start our final product for mammals. We will be having a kindercafe and picking our mammals for our mammal stories.

    2. I can edit for capitals, finger spaces, end marks and correct spelling of the sight words.

    I can write two sentences with one main ideas, making sure the who and the what match.    

     

    Math: Unit 4 Learning Targets:

    4a I can count and compare objects in a group.

    4b I can add and subtract with in 10.

    4c. I can decompose teen numbers in to a group of 10 plus extra ones.

    4d. I can name and identify 3d shapes.

     

    Reading Skills: Unit 6 Learning Targets:

    1. I can tell the beginning, middle and ending sounds of words.
    2. I can make the sounds of consonants.
    3. I can match the long and short vowel sounds when writing and reading words.
    4. I can read and write consonant blends and digraphs.
    5. I can read decodable text with purpose and understanding.  
    6. I can write a letter to match a sound.
    7. I can recognize and produce rhyming words.

    Kindergarten News: February 29, 2016

    This week we will be learning about the observable traits of a mammal.   The children have lots of background knowledge about mammals, it is fun to hear them notice, and wonder about the world around them. On Wednesday is our next Family Night, from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.  It will be an author theme night for Eric Carle. Please plan on attending it will be a fun event.

    Kindergarten News: February, 8 2016

    We will have a busy week. Tuesday is the 100th day and Thursday is the Valentine’s Day Party. We will end the week with a 4 day weekend. A quick rest before we start into mammals.
