Students have been working on being engineers during Literacy Labs.  I love seeing their engagement when they get the opportunity to create anything they want.  

I am excited about this new opportunity!  With the help of multiple donators, in the Kettle Falls community and beyond, sixty-five students each month will get to take home a brand new book from Scholastic to add to their personal library!  All sixty-five students received a Pete the Cat book in the month of September.  I can't wait to see each childs love of reading grow through this project.  Thank you to all those who made this project possible!

Every morning we start our day with a CREW meeting.  This is a time to welcome everyone to the classroom.  There is a different greeting every month of the year.  Students learn to shake hands, look each other in the eye and greet with a name.  The students also work on team building through an initiative.  Our job is to move the hula hoop around the circle without using our hands.  Our times have fluctuated from 2 minutes 20 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds.  After the initiative is over we discuss what strategies worked and what didn't for each round.  I can't wait to see how our CREW grows this year!
