Adventure 1-23-19
Posted by Tayler Mitchell on 1/28/2019 10:00:00 AMOn Wednesday, January 23, 2019 the First Graders went up to South Fork for Adventure. While we were there Eric Weatherman took the time to teach students about Avalanches and safety equipment they could wear to be found in case of an avalanche. The students also had the opportunity to use the equipment to find beacons that were buried in the snow. After lunch the first graders had a lot of fun sledding! Thank you Eric for helping make this adventure memorable and fun!

Posted by Tayler Mitchell on 9/26/2018 10:00:00 AMA few leaders from the 4th grade class came to talk to us about recess last week! They let us know that they will have 4th graders out to help with problems that may arise during recess, as well as 4th graders who will be leading games for us! How fun seeing CREW Leaders in our school!

We have started our Tools and Work module and are starting our investigation surrounding tools and work. The students had a challenge to figure out the best tools for the job of flipping "cookies" over. Each table was given 4 tools; a spoon, whisk, tongs, and a funnel. They explored with each tool to find out what tool worked best for the job!

Working Together
Posted by Tayler Mitchell on 9/12/2018 10:00:00 AMWe have been working together to create ONE image as a table group using pattern blocks. This is great for practicing our ability to work together as one and making compromises. Think Win-Win!

Taking Advantage of the Beautiful Weather
Posted by Tayler Mitchell on 5/9/2017 2:25:00 PMThursday, May 4, 2017 was too beautiful for us to stay inside all day! We took our Target Time Math work outside. In math we have been working on solving comparison story problems using comparison bars. During Target Time Math we wanted to have more practice with these types of problems before the end of the unit assessment. We worked through several problems with our partners while soaking in the Vitamin D. My students were all engaged and excited about all the math they were accomplishing! They are already asking when we can do it again (hopefully the weather starts to cooperate)! Learning is Fun!

Mystery Pictures
Posted by Tayler Mitchell on 2/17/2017 2:45:00 PMTarget Time Math, Friday, February 17, 2017 was spent coloring a mystery picture. This activity asked the kids to work in groups to color the pictures while working together and following directions. It was amazing to see the teamwork and the CARING come forward. My CREW takes such great care of eachother! The mystery picture is a 120 number grid, each number has a specific color to create the picture. The students were responsible for reading the number as well as reading the color the number it needed to be colored! This activity was enjoyed by all! Most students were asking to do another once they were finished.

100 Days Smarter!
Posted by Tayler Mitchell on 2/13/2017 2:00:00 PMFriday, February 9, 2017 we celebrated the 100th Day of School! We spent the day doing math and literacy activities involving the number 100. A class favorite was organizing 100 cereal pieces onto ten frames, then threading the cereal onto a string to create a necklace. I am attaching a picture showing how our class celebrated 100 days with shirts or items they made and brought from home.

Snowshoeing
Posted by Tayler Mitchell on 1/26/2017 3:00:00 PMYesterday, Thursday, January 25, 2017 was our first adventure of the New Year! We went snowshoeing up South Fork. We all had an amazing time. Before we left for our adventure, we made goals we wanted to achieve while we were out. One goal was to show effort by demonstrating perseverance. We chose this goal so we would not give up when we were tired from snowshoeing. Our second goal was to show caring. We want to treat others how we want to be treated. We chose this goal becuase we know that snowshoes are challenging and people could fall; we wanted to be caring and help others up.
Overall, it was an amazing day! We all had fun playing games and sliding down the hills. All my students are already very excited for our next adventure!
