High School Math
My name is Michael Potestio and I am a proud Kettle Falls High School graduate, and extremely happy to be returning. I was born and raised in Kettle Falls, where I graduated in 2005. I enjoyed my time at KFHS, and played football, basketball, and golf. After graduation I attended Eastern Washington University (GO EAGS!), where I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. Upon earning my degree I was lucky enough to be offered a teaching position at Colville High School, where I have been teaching math and physics for the last five years. I enjoyed my time in Colville, but when a job opened at Kettle Falls High School I had to seize the opportunity to come back home. After going through the Kettle Falls School District as a student, and seeing what great teachers and incredible students that Kettle Falls has, I was happy to become a part of the team. I look forward to getting to know all of the students, becoming involved with clubs, athletics, and other activities.
I would consider myself a fun teacher, and silly jokes and games are not uncommon. However, when it comes down to it the job of a teacher is to prepare students to some day be productive and responsible citizens, and I intend to do just that. Hard work and reliability are paramount in the workplace, and I expect the same in my classroom. I don't expect perfection, as I am not a perfect teacher, but I do expect effort.
