College in the Classroom Students

Our College in the Classroom students recently got to spend an exciting day on EWU Campus. EWU is a 300 acre campus and the average classroom size is 25 students.

KFHS students enrolled in our EWU College in the High School English, History, and Computer Science classes visited the EWU campus with their instructors (Mrs. Wyborney, Mrs. Rubin, and Mrs. Edwards) and our Gear Up Coordinator (Mrs. Newton). They worked with a librarian to learn how to access the JFK Library databases, attended History and Computer Science lectures, toured the engineering lab, and got their official EWU ID cards. The students also got to eat at Tawanka dining hall and then went ice skating in the University Recreation Center. GEAR UP continues to provide excellent opportunities for our students to see what is out and beyond our little community. We had almost 50 students participate in this excursion.
